Introduction : What is Hybrid Vehicles?

Hybrid vehicles are vehicles which contain both a combustion engine and an electric motor. Normally, a combustion engine uses petrol or diesel as its power source and the electric motor uses a high capacity rechargeable battery. In most cases, when a hybrid vehicle using electric motors has a lower speed and when using a combustion engine, speed is high.

Pros of Hybrid Vehicles

1. More eco-friendly vehicle (Comparatively other vehicles Hybrid vehicles reduced Carbon dioxide emissions. When it's using electric motor, it's totally environment friendly)
2. Having better fuel efficiency (It's not totally depend on fuel, because of hybrid vehicle can perform with battery powered electric motor)
3. Less cost for energy source (Comparatively electricity is cheaper than petrol or diesel)
4. Performing better than other gas powered vehicles.
5. Light-weight vehicle (Light-weight materials are used for the hybrid vehicles)
6. The battery recharges when the braking (When driver push the brake pedal in a hybrid vehicle there is mechanism to recharge the battery)
7. The resale value is very high (With the current growing fuel shortage, the demand for electric hybrid vehicles is increasing)

Cons of Hybrid Vehicles

1. The price is very high (In the market hybrid vehicle is more expensive than other vehicle)
2. Maintaining and repair cost is very expensive (Hight voltage battery of hybrid vehicle is very expensive and normally one battery can use only about 8 years. And also, mechanism of hybrid car is more complex and then repair it and maintain it is very expensive)
3. Less powerful (Hybrid vehicles are less powerful than ICE vehicle. This hybrids vehicles using battery power and environment friendly, but this electric motor is not powerful as diesel or petrol engine)
4. Space is less (For the battery take large space and it cause to less luggage space)
5. Not suitable for heavy vehicles (This electric battery powered hybrid technology is good for small vehicles such as cars, cabs, jeeps but not for heavy vehicles such as trucks)
